Jim Gary, a sculptor who became known internationally for his fine, architectural, landscape, and whimsical monumental art, diedJanuary 14. He was 66 and lived in Farmingdale, New Jersey.
Gary's famous dinosaur sculptureswere on display in Charlotte in the spring of 2004, first at Lowe's Motor Speedway's AutoFair and then on the UNC Charlotte campus from April to July. The exhibit was very popular and brought many families to UNC Charlotte to see theamazing creatures.
A"Sculptor Jim Gary Memorial Fund" has being establishedto ensure that his major works are placed in appropriate museums or institutions, as Gary requested.
