The mission of the Turner School of Accountancy in the Belk College of Business is to discover and disseminate knowledge essential to the practice of accounting. We prepare students for careers in professional accounting and business, seeking to foster appreciation for knowledge, intellectual growth and dedication to service. We engage in research that explores accounting theory, policy and practice. In strategic partnership with the greater Charlotte business community, we seek to prepare our students to become leaders who think critically and possess professional expertise, global awareness, and a commitment to ethical behavior.
The School of Accountancy offers programs for students at various stages of their professional accounting careers. Our programs provide conceptual and technical knowledge in the accounting and business areas, serving as a foundation for accounting career development.
The Belk College’s undergraduate accounting program is accredited by AACSB International, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and by the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for baccalaureate degree programs in accounting.
Graduates find a wide range of professional careers in public practice, industry, financial institutions, government and non-profit organizations.
Alumni and friends have raised more than $230,000 to support a student scholarship, a faculty teaching award and conference room renovation to honor Professor Emeritus Thomas C. Turner.
