Dual MBA Program
What degree did you pursue and why?

I pursued my MBA with a specialization in Global Business Strategy. I wanted an international experience, but was unable to leave Mexico due to my job, so this program fit my needs perfectly. I had the benefit of being able to earn my degree in Mexico and continue working full time while being taught by professors from UNC Charlotte who come to Mexico and teach with other professors from all around the world. I am hoping that this degree will help me boost my career in the short term and give me the instruments to begin building my own business in the long run.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business over others?

I loved the combination of EGADE with UNC Charlotte, where I would have a direct education from Mexican teachers along with the added value from the professors at UNC Charlotte. I also wanted to keep the international experience to maintain a global perspective.

What activities are you involved in when not working/studying?

Outside of working at Heineken Mexico, I love playing sports like swimming and mountain biking. This helps me balance all the stress from work and school while staying active and healthy. I am also very interested in volunteering. However, due to the amount of work and school, I had to put this on hold for a 3 year period; I will hopefully continue with volunteering as soon as I obtain my degree.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

In general, I have had the opportunity to study abroad throughout my schooling. Having travelled to Haiti, France, Mexico and the US, it has allowed me to gain a global view of cultures, educations and work costumes. For my master’s degree, coming to UNC Charlotte was a great experience where I was able to meet great people from all around the world including the U.S., Africa, Mexico and Colombia. This is great networking for future operations. Additionally, we have had great conferences learning how different global strategies have helped companies grow. Having the global week, where the students in Mexico come to join MBA students in Charlotte, gives this master’s program an additionally valuable experience.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone considering a master’s program?

A great experience that is very worthwhile. The facutly are experts in their respective fields and also have a global background. In general, having the variety of using books, business cases, recent articles, and students from a well-leveled background allows a rich and complete learning experience.
