"You will only get out what you put in. The College has the resources and talent to achieve anything. If you put in the work and prove you are committed, you will succeed."

What major(s) are you pursuing and why?

I am pursuing an Operations and Supply Chain major because I believe the logistics industry is going to see a large technology development phase in the next few years.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte?

I chose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte because of the opportunities the school offers being so close to Charlotte. As Charlotte’s economy grows, so will UNC Charlotte.

What activities are you involved in when not working or studying?

When I am not working or studying, you can find me in the gym. I like to go in the mornings when there are less people. I also love building things. My brother and I usually have some project in the works; we have projects ranging from boats to cabins. The latest project was a 16ft catamaran. I also like to tinker with technology. In the past I have volunteered in the UNC Charlotte Primatology Lab and used ArcGIS. This fall I will spend most of my free time starting a Blockchain/Hyperledger organization with Professor Setzer and working on an outreach program for Charlotte’s Title I schools.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

The best part of my academic experience, at UNC Charlotte, has been attending the PMA Tech Knowledge Conference in Monterey, California, this spring. I had the opportunity to speak to investors, company leaders, and experts in refrigerated shipping logistics.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?

You will only get out what you put in. The College has the resources and talent to achieve anything. If you put in the work and prove you are committed, you will succeed.

What does professional development mean to you?

Professional development means continuous learning. Learning just enough to call yourself a professional will not be enough to be the best at what you do or enjoy doing. Continuously learning allows you to improve and develop into a well rounded professional.

If you have received a scholarship or financial aid, how has that helped you? What scholarship did you receive?

I am a recipient of the William H. Barnhardt Merit Scholarship. As someone who works part time to pay tuition, this has relieved some of the financial burden which has allowed me more time to follow some of my other interests on campus.

What high school did you attend?

Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio.

What are your plans after graduation (if you’re a senior)?

I am not sure at the moment. I worked with a large organization this summer and enjoyed it, but I plan to work with small startups this fall to compare the two. I do plan on getting a Master's degree after a few years of work experience.

In your opinion, what are the 3 best things about UNC Charlotte?

The Atkins Library 10th floor rare books collection.

The piano in the student union. On occasion, someone will be playing. I love to get an espresso and listen.

The Atkins Library archaeological collection.

What is your favorite class that you have taken and why?

My favorite class has been ANTH 2144 with Dr. Light. This class is not a business class, but I loved the class readings and final project. I love reading archaeological dig records.

Tell us 3 random things about yourself.

I have a minor in Anthropology.

I have lived in Brazil, Germany, and several states in the United States.

I love to cook.
