Masters Programs

Master of Business Administration

The MBA program builds a student's potential for a leadership position in today's complex business organization by developing effective communications, systematic and creative problem-solving skills; confidence in decision making; ethical insight; sensitivity to teamwork and consensus-building; and a world view.

Master of Accountancy (MACC)

The Master of Accountancy degree is a multiple-track program designed to prepare accountants for the rapidly-changing expectations of the profession. Students may specialize in financial accounting and auditing or in tax accounting, or they may develop an individualized program of study.

M.S. in Mathematical Finance (Interdisciplinary Graduate Program)

The Master of Science in Mathematical Finance program is designed to prepare students to pursue careers in finance. Increasingly, financial institutions, investment banks, and commodities firms rely upon highly sophisticated mathematical models to identify, measure, and manage risk. The advent of these models has triggered the emergence of a new discipline, Mathematical Finance, which requires professionals with extensive skills in both finance and mathematics.

The Mathematical Finance program is a joint program of the Departments of Finance and Economics in the Belk College of Business and the Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students take courses from all three departments in an integrated curriculum. Students may use electives to tailor the program to their specific interests.

M.S. in Economics

The Master of Science in Economics degree features a curriculum that is flexible, yet thorough in its approach to theoretical training and applied coursework. The program offers concentrations in Economics and in Economics/Finance.

M.S. in Real Estate

Through ongoing collaboration with industry leaders and a number of academic departments on campus, an interdisciplinary 32-credit hour M.S. in Real Estate curriculum has been created to develop the next generation of leaders in commercial real estate. 

Graduates will develop the skills necessary to evaluate complex commercial real estate transactions while working in a variety of different fields including appraisal, brokerage, capital markets, corporate services and development.  The program will draw prospective students from undergraduate programs in architecture, engineering, urban planning and geography, as well as the business disciplines.

M.S. in Management

The Master of Science in Management program is a full-time master's program delivered during the day that will provide business acumen to recent non-business undergraduatesThis fast-track program delivers business fundamentals and develops graduates who are prepared to solve complex issues, evaluate and sell ideas, and lead teams across a wide variety of functions and industries. Students will be exposed to the major functional areas of business including accounting, finance, marketing and management.

P.S.M. in Data Science and Business Analytics (Interdisciplinary Graduate Program)

UNC Charlotte has created the regions first graduate-level program dedicated to creating leaders in the fields of data science and business analytics. The program is designed for working adults, with a flexible delivery model that makes it accessible for part time or full time students.   Our students are practitioners, trained to manage flood of “big data” and to bridge the gap between science of data and the needs business.

Dual Degree: MBA in Global Business & Strategy (Monterrey, Mexico)

The Master in Business Administration with specialization in Global Business and Strategy (M.B.A.-GBS) is a double degree M.B.A. offered as a joint program by the Graduate School of Business Administration and Leadership (EGADE) at Tecnológico de Monterrey – Campus Monterrey, and the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte. Upon completion of the program, students receive two M.B.A. degrees: one from Tecnológico de Monterrey – Campus Monterrey and another from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, plus a certificate in Global Business and Strategy jointly issued from EGADE and the Belk College.

Dual Degree: MHA/MBA

This dual degree program allows students to earn both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Belk College of Business and a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from the College of Health and Human Services.

Certificate Programs

MBA Plus Certificate

The MBA Plus post-master’s graduate certificate program provides an opportunity for graduates of AACSB-accredited MBA programs to broaden and update their business education. As business conditions, tools, and techniques change rapidly, the MBA Plus provides an excellent way to staying at the forefront of knowledge.

Real Estate Certificate

UNC Charlotte offers a graduate certificate in real estate finance and development for individuals who wish to pursue advanced study in real estate finance and real estate development.

Applied Econometrics Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Econometrics provides students with a strong foundation in applied econometrics, a skill set that is increasingly in demand. Individuals who can answer problems using data are in high demand in the job market. All courses in the Applied Econometrics Certificate focus on using data and statistics to answer questions and solve business related problems.

Business Analytics Certificate

Demand for business analytics skills is driven by the exponential growth in the generation, collection and storage of data and the ability to bring it to bear in making business decisions. The Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics will give students a strong foundation in business analytics, a skill set that is increasingly in demand in today’s hyper-competitive and dynamic marketplace. In addition, students who apply and are accepted to the MBA program can use all four certificate courses to help satisfy their MBA concentration requirements.  

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Certificate

This certificate aims to satisfy the increasing societal demand for skill sets related to entrepreneurship and innovation. Entrepreneurship serves as the path through which innovations and improvements to the overall quality of life within society come to fruition. In doing so, entrepreneurship and innovation drive economic development. The Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation also allows students considering the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program and other graduate studies in entrepreneurship to explore material prior to formally committing to a full graduate degree program.

Doctoral Programs

Ph.D. in Business Administration (Finance)

The Belk College began offering a Ph.D. in business administration, with a major in finance, in Fall 2006. The program is research-oriented, designed to prepare graduates for academic teaching and research careers. Graduates will be qualified for tenure-track professor positions at both national and international teaching universities and other educational institutions.

Ph.D. in Organizational Science (Interdisciplinary Graduate Program)

The Belk College, in close partnership with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, offers a Ph.D. in Organizational Science. Organizational Science is an interdisciplinary field of inquiry focusing on employee and organizational health, well-being, and effectiveness. This research-oriented program has roots in the following disciplines (in alphabetical order): Human Resources Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Communication, Organizational Sociology and Social Psychology.

Ph.D. in Public Policy (Interdisciplinary Graduate Program)

Faculty from the Department of Economics are actively involved in the Ph.D. in Public Policy program.

Doctorate in Business Administration

UNC Charlotte is home to the first and only Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) in the Carolinas. The DBA is a three-year professional degree taught in an executive format, bringing experienced professionals together to study in Charlotte over 10 weekend residencies per year. A DBA from the Belk College of Business is a launchpad to fulfilling career opportunities in management consulting, corporate leadership, or a professorship at a business school.
