Because business success requires a global perspective, the Belk College of Business offers an International Business major and International Management minor.
International Business Major
As technology brings businesses throughout the world closer together, it is crucial that managers adapt quickly to the dynamic international business environment. The undergraduate International Business major is designed to provide students with a broad knowledge of the international business arena, to prepare them for careers in our increasingly interdependent world.
This major provides students with an interesting and integrated framework of market environments in which international business operates and the impact of those environments on managerial decision-making.
The International Business major will benefit the student interested in working with foreign businesses, domestic businesses competing with businesses from abroad, and foreign markets. However, our graduates are not limited to the business arena. Employment in government, trade, law, education, military service, religion and nonprofit organizations are logical areas of employment for graduates of the International Business program.
Fluency in a second language is stressed, and students complement their studies in the classroom with a study abroad experience. Find out more.
International Management Minor
The cross-curricular undergraduate minor in International Management provides students with an opportunity to gain a global perspective on the business environment, economic and political trends and managerial issues. Find out more.
Study abroad is a requirement for students majoring in International Business. With the globalization of business, technology, and communications, the business leaders of today and tomorrow must have knowledge, skills, and experience that transcend national and cultural boundaries. Study abroad is the perfect vehicle for global learning both in and out of the classroom in developing and enhancing a global perspective of business. With advance planning and research, students will find that study abroad is both affordable and easier than most imagine the process to be. More importantly, study abroad is a once in a lifetime experience that will change your life.
International Business students should meet with their Academic and Career Coach to discuss program options and requirements. To learn more about the study abroad process at UNC Charlotte, please visit the Office of Education Abroad (OEA) and sign up for an information session. International Business students are strongly encouraged to plan early and study abroad during their junior year of study.
