Inclusivity in Professional Development

As a team, we will:

  • Commit to inviting speakers and guests who represent diverse backgrounds 

  • Partner with industry leaders who are making meaningful progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Support student organizations and special programs that specifically support individuals with diverse identities

  • Offer the opportunity to request accommodations for every event that you register for

  • Ask for dietary restrictions and work with on-campus catering to accommodate those for any food-related events

  • Avoid work-restricted religious holidays where possible for opt-in events and provide accommodations for those unable to attend events for religious reasons

Identity Resources
The Peer Guide program is a leadership opportunity for Belk College students, inclusive of those from underrepresented student populations, designed to support the recruitment and success of undergraduate Belk College students. Peer Guides provide support to the Niblock Student Center in recruiting diverse students and offering professional development opportunities for students with a goal of retaining and engaging Belk College undergraduate students to be successful toward graduation.The Peer Guide program is partially funded through the Chancellor's Diversity Challenge Fund.

Office of Identity, Equity & Engagement- this office was created to educate, develop, and engage students regarding their various intersecting identities (gender identity, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual identity, etc). Our mission is to provide students an affirming and equitable environment committed to fostering a campus community that celebrates and supports expansion of identities.

Office of Diversity and Inclusion- Student Resources Various programs are sponsored by the Dean of Students Office to promote opportunities for learning and growth during a student's college experience. 

University Career Center Identity at Work- This page includes general resources for identity at work as well as ways to get involved here on campus with career engagement opportunities. They also have specific resources for:

Women in Business- The Women in Business initiative promotes the role of professional women in the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte. WIB provides career-developing activities to empower undergraduate students to achieve personal and professional goals and enter confidently into the business marketplace.
Office of Disability Services UNC Charlotte- The Office of Disability Services works to ensure that students with disabilities have access to education and campus life at UNC Charlotte. Through collaboration with the institution’s diverse community, Disability Services facilitates accommodations, discourse, and engagement to promote a universally accessible learning environment for all.
Veteran Services Office UNC Charlotte’s Veterans Services Office is dedicated to the support and success of our military-affiliated student body. The VSO is the central hub at UNC Charlotte to promote a smooth and seamless transition for those choosing college after or during their service.
The International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) The mission of the International Student and Scholar Office is to provide information, services and programs that help international students and visiting scholars achieve their individual educational and personal goals and that foster an appreciation for a culturally diverse learning environment in the larger University community.
