Shuwen Li joined the Department of Economics in the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte as a Visiting Assistant Professor after receiving her Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University in 2018. Using laboratory and field experiments, her research provides empirical evidence informing economic theory and policy. Her current research focuses on bargaining, yielding novel insights for gender differences in the labor market. One of her papers on this topic has appeared in the Journal of Peace Research. A second line of research investigates approaches for public- private partnerships. She is especially interested in developing strategies for facilitating collective insurance arrangements, an issue of substantial importance to developing economies.
