The Belk College of Business invites alumni and friends to join us for a new virtual series this summer!  We'll enjoy an expert presentation from Nicole Smith ‘97 and small group networking facilitated by Belk College Alumni Council members. Nicole is a Certified Coach, CEO/Founder of JMS Creative Leadership Solutions and author of "20 Golden Leadership Nuggets."

Belk Talks Business is a new virtual event series that features interviews and interactive engagement with Belk College alumni and business partners. The 60 minute series, created in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, is designed specifically for Business Niners with guests sharing insight on leadership, tips for success and other timely and relevant topics. Topic: Five tips to stay energized and productive while working remotely
Virtually everyone around the world has been introduced to new terms like social distancing and self-quarantine, which has flipped our workplace environment upside down. For organizations that can, working from home full time is the new normal and has lasted more than a few weeks. Now that we have been doing this for a while, let's hear what tips have worked and hear some new ones to keep us productive and balanced.

Nicole Smith '97Nicole Smith '97 has a background in Talent Development, focusing on Leadership Development. She has consulted, trained and coached organizational leaders at every level in various industries. Her background led her to become a #1 best-selling author of a quick, easy read book called 20 Golden Leadership Nuggets. She shares lessons learned in her 20+ years of servant, authentic leadership and crafts them in practical tips that can be applied today helping you on your leadership journey!

With her love of speaking, she has designed, hosted, and facilitated educational events, conferences, workshops, and seminars for over 20,000 attendees. She engages audiences on topics including multiple generations, managing your schedule, conflict management, skillful collaboration, emotional intelligence, diversity, inclusion and equity, unconscious bias, employee engagement and how to use technical tools/software. She is passionate about motivating, speaking and teaching, and strives to help people enjoy the journey of becoming the best version of themselves.

Nicole is a certified Emotional Intelligence Coach and a certified Professional Life Coach. She is also a certified DISC behavior consultant allowing her to administer, interpret, train, and coach on the DISC behavior profile assessments.

She received her two bachelor of art degrees in psychology and criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a master of education from the University of Phoenix focusing on adult training and development. She is an active member of the Junior League of Charlotte, NC winning service awards and serving in positions including the Education & Training Council Manager, Vice-Chair of the Training and Development committee and Co-Chair of Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
