What degree did you complete and why?

I pursued an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources as I am passionate about understanding people and the impacts of their behavior in the performance of a company. I feel it really uplifts the opportunities and opens new avenues for a business to succeed and grow.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business over others?

The Belk College had the perfect fit of curriculum for me and helped me streamline and focus my understanding of Human Resources. The Belk College of Business also had multiple programs for networking and diversifying interests. Charlotte being the banking hub of the east coast also posed many unique opportunities to grow and succeed.

What lessons have you learned in your courses that you were able to apply on the job?

I worked as a Research Assistant with the Management department in Belk College of Business. Over the summer, I had interned with Olam West Coast as a Human Resource Intern and I analyzed multiple personality test surveys for the company. I worked in recruitment, job analysis, talent analysis and HR Information Systems which were covered in detail by professors with Belk College.

What activities are you involved in when not working/studying?

I am interested and have been practicing different art forms such as dance and music. When I am not working, I try to apply team-building principles in choreographing different types of group dances.

What has been the best part of your academic experience?

By far, the best academic experience for me was being able to write papers on different aspects of Human Resources. Being able to analyze different topics and understand the cause and consequences of each from different points of view is amazing.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone considering a master’s program?

The Belk College of Business provides unique curriculum options and opportunities to grow. There are no limitations on diversity and it really helps one to understand their true passion. Each subject is taught from scratch, which really provides in-depth knowledge and strengthens the foundation well. It is worth the investment for a brilliant academic beginning.

How valuable do you feel this degree IS to your career?

This degree will not only help me achieve unique growth opportunities in the business world, but also help me innovate and explore new avenues. It opens new areas of business and Human Resources which I was not previously aware of. It is also a strong foundation for the Ph.D. I am planning to pursue in the future.
