Accounting

What major did you pursue and why?

I pursued a major in accounting. Math is my favorite subject; I like working with numbers, and I am also detailed oriented. The accounting profession accommodates both my interests and strengths.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte?

I chose UNC Charlotte because it is far enough from home to help me become independent but also close enough to see my family when needed. I was sure I wanted to come here when I first toured the university. I knew the Belk College of Business would give me the opportunity to excel and become my best self.

What activities are you involved in when not working or studying?

I was a member of the Business Honors Program and Beta Alpha Psi, the international honors organization for financial information students and professionals. Both organizations have helped me grow professionally and make friendships that will last a lifetime. In my free time, I like to spend time with family and friends, go to group gym sessions at the Belk gym, or binge watch my favorite shows on Netflix.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

The best part of my academic experience would have to be the friends I have made and continue to make. I never thought I’d meet so many individuals who want to help you succeed and are willing to give you their time to help you achieve your goals.

If you are looking for endless opportunities, inclusion and success, the Belk College of Business is the place for you.

If you have received a scholarship or financial aid, how has that helped you?

I knew that paying for college would not be easy since I come from a big family. Both financial aid and scholarships have helped pay for tuition, room and board and reduced the financial burden of paying for college.
