What major(s) did you pursue and why?

Major: Marketing; Minor: Italian
I chose to pursue a marketing major because I enjoy the mix of business and creativity

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte?

I chose UNC Charlotte because the second I stepped on campus I felt like I was home, as cliché as that sounds. I wasn’t even on an official tour the first time I came to campus. I had my friend show me around, but I just had this feeling like this is where I was supposed to be. As I learned more about the university, especially the Belk College of Business, I could not see myself going anywhere else.

What activities are you involved in when not working or studying?

I love going to the gym. Exercising has become a real passion of mine. This is offset by my love for food. I have had so many opportunities to experience authentic foods from around the world during my time in charlotte. My favorite has to be a toss-up between authentic Latin street food (Sabor) and Japanese noodles (FutoButo!!)

What was the best part of your academic experience?

I can honestly say being a part of the Business Honors Program has elevated my academic experience. One of my first leadership opportunities on campus came through BHP, I was a freshman class representative. I have really enjoyed taking my core business courses with people I know in small class sizes. I know that I can count on my classmates and I got to know them not only as peers but also as friends.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?

I would describe the Belk College of Business as a transformative academic space with so much opportunity for growth. The Belk College of Business is not just concerned about students achieving high grades and making the programs look good. The college wants you to succeed in your passions and helps you to achieve your personal goals.

What does professional development mean to you?

Professional development means to be prepared not only with book knowledge but to also acquire interpersonal skills that enable you to succeed in a professional setting. This includes knowledge about how to engage with people verbally or through written communication. Professional development should prepare you for the unwritten rules of the business world.

How has being a Crown Scholar helped you?

Being a Crown Scholar has opened up many opportunities for personal growth. With the support of this program I have traveled abroad and presented research at the UNC Charlotte Undergraduate research conference. These are things I never thought I would do.

How has being a part of the Business Honors Program impacted your experience at UNC Charlotte?

As I mentioned above, I feel that being a part of the Business Honors Program has allowed me to have the best academic experience I could ask for. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with hardworking students and develop amazing friendships. I have enjoyed small class sizes and beneficial professional development experiences. I have gone on company site visits, participated in mock interviews with successful leads in the Charlotte business market, and attended extremely beneficial networking events. The program has allowed me to grow as a business student, a leader, and as a person.

In your opinion, what are the 3 best things about UNC Charlotte?

1)There is a larger UNC Charlotte community that we are all a part of, but we each get to choose our own smaller community as well. No one is left out.
2)I love UNC Charlotte’s proximity to business in the greater Charlotte area
3)UNC Charlotte is growing. It is evolving and progressing with the advances of today. I see the potential for UNC Charlotte to be a leader in many fields in the future.

What was your favorite class and why?

My favorite class I have taken was a Latin Dance class I took sophomore year. We learned how to tango and went out to practice at dance socials. It was so fun to have an hour reprieve from class twice a week to just dance with my friends and do something out of the norm.
