What degree are you pursuing and why?
After working as a mental health therapist for several years, I decided that I wanted to shift my career focus and get my MBA. I am pursuing my MBA with a concentration in Business Analytics. I am hoping to use this specialized training to help propel me into a new career either in healthcare or another industry.
Why did you choose the Belk College of Business over others?
I chose the Belk College MBA over others because of its strong accreditation status, consistent innovations and variety in MBA specialties.
If you are currently working, tell us about your job. What lessons have you learned in your courses that you were able to apply on the job?
Although I am currently a full time student, I have learned many lessons in my courses that have helped me develop a better appreciation for the financial and organizational challenges that my previous supervisors and administrators faced in building sustainable healthcare systems.
What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?
I am not originally from Charlotte and have made this my new home in the past year. That said, in addition to all the new skills and knowledge I am gaining from the program, I also have really enjoyed getting to make so many new connections with people in the program.
How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone considering a master’s program?
I would tell them that while the program is challenging and will make you work hard, the faculty and staff are very invested in seeing you succeed and become better leaders for our community.
What activities are you involved in when not working/studying?
When not studying, my hobbies include riding and repairing bicycles and cooking. I primarily enjoy cooking Italian and even make my own homemade pasta noodles and sauce!
