Why did you choose to attend UNC Charlotte?

As an out of state student, UNC Charlotte initially appealed to me as a university that offered a change of scenery without being too far away from home. After researching into the university's academic programs, I became interested in the business analytics major. At the time, I had never heard of the greater eld of data science or data analytics, but, after researching into the industry, I realized that it perfectly blended my interests in computer science and mathematics. After coming to these conclusions, it became clear that UNC Charlotte was the ideal school for me.

Why did you choose to join the Business Honors Program (BHP)?

Prior to attending college, I knew that I wanted to join an honors program but wasn't initially sure as to which one would be most beneficial. However, after researching BHP online and speaking with the director, it became apparent that BHP was an organization of high esteem. The professional presence and extensive network that BHP possesses makes it one of the most distinguished honors programs offered at UNC Charlotte.

What has been your greatest or most defining experience throughout your time in BHP thus far?

Thus far, my most defining experience has been the mock interview event hosted by BHP in the spring of 2019. This particular event was memorable because I was able to interview with an employee from SAS—a company that I very much admire and would love the opportunity to seek employment in the future. To interact with someone in my eld of interest who clearly loved his career was an enlightening experience and gave me con dence that I have chosen the right education path.

What student organizations are you involved with on campus?

National Society of Leadership and Success (Inducted Member): April 2019 - Present Japanese Speaking Practice Club (Treasurer): September 2018 - December 2018

Have you done an internship? If so, please tell us about your experience(s)

I have secured two internships since beginning my undergraduate education. Over the summer of 2019, I obtained an internship with Dominion Energy in Cayce, South Carolina as a Junior Analyst. In this internship, I was able to apply knowledge from my classwork with Excel and also gain experience in the applications of Sharepoint and FileNet to assist the company's supply chain management team. Since the spring of 2018 I have had an internship on campus during school semesters as a graphic design assistant for the Belk College of Business. In this internship I am able to tune into my creative side by helping to design graphics for the web and for print with Adobe Creative Cloud.

How will BHP help you land your dream job or set you up for success after graduation?

BHP is substantively bene cial in preparing students for the business world. The high standards and values of BHP gives me an additional element of credibility on my resume that can be brought up to future employers which could help land future positions. Since being a part of BHP, I have gained insight to business acumen that I hadn't considered previously— professional dress, appropriate business behavior, and personal branding are just a few of the insights I have gained from BHP which will be invaluable to my success after graduation.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?

The Belk College of Business embodies a commitment to every student's success beyond the classroom; there are constant opportunities throughout the year that cater to the development and integration of students in the college. Topics range from professional development to networking events and provide a chance for any student to become familiar and comfortable with both the college and people in it. Further, the commitment of professors in the college to educating students while also being involved in research of their own is valuable in portraying to students the importance of continuing education beyond receiving a degree.
