In your opinion, what are the 3 best things about UNC Charlotte?
The three best things about UNC Charlotte are the quality of education you receive, the multitude of connections with employers, and the ability for anyone with any interest to get involved on campus.

Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the top floor of the library because I like heights and the view is nice. The artifacts room is also there and I find it to be the most quiet place in the entire library. 

What is your favorite Charlotte restaurant?
My favorite Charlotte restaurant is Cowfish in South Charlotte. It is a great combination of sushi and American cuisine. 

What clubs and/or organizations are you involved in?
I am involved in the Business Honors Program, American Marketing Association, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Charlotte Motorist Club. I am also an intern at SABIC Innovative Plastics. At SABIC, I work as a credit analyst in the finance department.

Tyler Messick '18 majored operations and supply chain management. He was in the Business Honors Program, American Marketing Association, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Charlotte Motorist Club and had an internship at SABIC Innovative Plastics.
What major did you pursue?

I majored in operations and supply chain management because I enjoy finding the best and most efficient ways to do things, and I enjoy people coming to me for guidance and leadership.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/ UNC Charlotte?

I chose the Belk College of Business because of its connections to the city of Charlotte and the surrounding area’s business community.

What activities are you involved in when not working/studying?

When I am not studying or working, I like to work on cars, go to car shows, work out, eat good food and play intramural football, basketball and volleyball.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

The best part of my college experience thus far was showing a million-dollar home during my time as a real estate broker for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in South Charlotte. I learned a lot during my time at Berkshire Hathaway, getting an early experience into professional life.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?

I would describe the Belk College as a place to learn from experienced business professionals.

If you have received a scholarship or financial aid, how has that helped you?

Financial aid has helped lighten the financial stress that going to college puts on my family and me.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduation are to begin a full-time job in the operations management field at a large company in Charlotte. I would love to eventually work my way up to vice president of operations for a company.
