Laptop Policy

Beginning Fall 2021, all students taking classes in the Belk College of Business are required to have their own personal laptop computer.

Picking a system

When purchasing a laptop, it is important to remember that it should last for the duration  of your studies. Opting for a higher-performing machine helps keep it relevant longer. The  Belk College of Business requires a laptop that meets or exceeds the minimum system  specifications listed below. Purchases can be made at UNC Charlotte's NinerTech.  Students will be informed of the needed software on the syllabus for each course.  However, some applications used in selected courses are not available natively in a Mac  format. If a student prefers an Apple laptop, the student will be responsible for installing  Windows 10 via Boot Camp to run some of the applications required in business courses.

Because the laptop will be required, students will be able to utilize financial aid to make  the purchase. If you are receiving financial aid, you can submit a budget increase  request for the actual cost of the laptop and related equipment. You may only receive  one budget increase for a computer purchase during your enrollment.
