M.S. in Real Estate program announces full-tuition scholarships

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

The Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program at UNC Charlotte will offer six full-tuition scholarships to students beginning in the 2013-14 academic year.

The scholarships, which each have a value in excess of $20,000 over the course of the program, are named in honor of three real estate industry leaders with close ties to the university:

  • Bissell Scholarships, named in honor of H.C. “Smoky” Bissell, will be awarded to individuals who have shown a keen interest in innovation;
  • Crosland Scholarships, named in honor of John Crosland Jr., will be awarded to foster the development of applicants who have exhibited leadership skills early in their careers;
  • Childress-Klein Scholarships, named in honor of Childress Klein Properties, will be awarded to those with a dedication to community stewardship.

“These scholarships will attract and support an elite cohort of students in the MSRE program,” said Dr. Dustin Read, director of the Center for Real Estate at UNC Charlotte and coordinator of the MSRE. “The program has benefitted from the long-time support of the Charlotte real estate community and provides a valuable talent pipeline for commercial real estate finance and development.”

MSRE classes are held in the evenings at UNC Charlotte’s Center City campus, making the program an attractive option for real estate professionals who wish to pursue an advanced degree while working, as well as for recent graduates looking to break into the field. Students graduating from the program will qualify for positions such as development associates, underwriters, brokers, asset and property managers, acquisition specialists and financial analysts.

The M.S. in Real Estate program enrolls new full-time students in the fall semester only. Part-time students may be admitted in fall or spring. The priority deadline for fall admission is March 1. All applicants will be considered for the scholarships.
