Belk College professors Richard Buttimer (Finance), Craig Depken (Economics) and Doug Pugh (Management) participated in Charlotte's "24 Hours of Booty" fundraiser July 25-26.
24 Hours of Booty is a 24-hour road cycling charity event that raises funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.The event originated in 2002 and adopted the nickname of a popular biking and walking circuit in Charlotte'sMyers Park neighborhood.
The 2008 event has a fundraising goal of $1 million, with more than $930,000 raised to date.
"I decided to ride because I have family and friends who have been directly and severely impacted by cancer and this event raises substantial money for cancer causes," said Dr. Depken. "Furthermore, it was a lot of fun."
The professors hope to recruit more members of the Belk College faculty, staff and student body for next year's event.
