Students selected to attend risk management conference

Two students in the Belk College's undergraduate program in Risk Management and Insurance have been selected to attend an industry conference through a prestigious scholarship program.

Senior Ryan Smithandjunior LoganStoutwill attend the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.(RIMS) 2008 Annual Conference in San Diego from April 27to May 1 through the Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program.

Each year,RIMS sponsors a group of outstanding students to attend theannual conference. These students are chosen from a national pool of university-level risk management and insurance students and are selected based on academic standing, leadership skills, extracurricular activities and motivation to succeed in a risk management and insurance career. This is an all-expense-paid trip, with RIMS providing airfare, hotel expenses, registration, and a small stipend for the students.

"This conference is a great opportunity for these students to learn from and network with risk managers from a wide range of industries all across the country," said Faith Neale, director of the risk management program at UNC Charlotte."We're delighted that our students were selected to participate."
