UNC Charlotte SIFE team wins regional competition for sixth straight year

The UNC Charlotte Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team won the annual SIFE regional competition March 16 for the sixth consecutive year. The competition,held in Charlotte,served as a preliminary competition for SIFE Nationals.

The UNC Charlotte SIFE team will attend the SIFE National Exposition in Philadelphia May 10-12tocompete against other U.S. regional competition winners.

Competing SIFE team members were Wei Tsay, Pasan Premaratne, Daniel Lonon, Katelyn Gesler, Bryan King, Yu-Ching Su, Youssef Boutaleb, CC Evans, and Mihir Sagar. Dr. Kevin Toomb, professor of marketing,serves as the Sam Walton Fellow and advisorfor the UNC Charlotte SIFE team.

SIFE is a non-profit organization that with chaptersinmore than40 countries. SIFE members plan and implement projects that represent the seven pillars of SIFE: Market Economics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Environmental Sustainability, Business Ethics, and Program Sustainability. This year, the UNC Charlotte SIFE team has contributed more than 3,500 hours to the community in hopes of making a positive difference.
