Where are you from?
I am from New York and I moved to North Carolina in 2013.
 
What high school did you attend?
Abraham Lincoln High School, Brooklyn, N.Y.

When do you plan to graduate?
I am expecting to graduate in Fall 2017.

In your opinion, what are the 3 best things about UNC Charlotte?  
The Botanical Garden, Starbucks and the swings outside Robinson Hall.

Where is your favorite place on campus?
The Botanical Garden

What is your favorite Charlotte restaurant?
Le Kbab and Zafran

What is your favorite class that you have taken and why?
Peace, Conflict and Identity. I believe this class helped me with my personal growth.  I learned the material related to the topic, but I also learned how to think.
 
Tell us 3 random things about yourself.
-    I work with the Career Center as a Housing Peer Career Ambassador.
-    I like watching movies and I love acting.
-    I like taking risks, trying new things and I love adventures.

Atika Chaudhry is majoring in international business and international studies. She is a student ambassador of the Women in Business Initiative of the Belk College of Business.

What majors are you pursuing and why?
I am majoring in international business and international studies because I love exploring different cultures, religions and languages, and their impact on the business world.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte?
The Belk College of Business provides excellent services and opportunities for business students such as the Women In Business Initiative, Enactus and the Business Honors Program. It provides the best platform to network with well-known leaders and companies. 

What activities are you involved in when not working or studying?
I am a founder and president of the HOPE student organization on campus. This organization helps my fellow students with overcoming depression and suicidal thoughts. HOPE assists students to channel their hidden talents to boost their confidence. Additionally, we offer multilingual services for international students in partnership with the counseling center.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?
I would love to introduce the Belk College of Business as the best college of business in North Carolina with extraordinary services and career opportunities for students.

What are your plans after graduation?
I am planning to educate the low-income population by working with nonprofit organizations. I want to help students and other eligible candidates to get the jobs they deserve by becoming a recruiter. In addition, I want to assist students with personal and professional growth.
 
Why did you choose to get involved with the Women in Business Initiative?
I chose to get involved with the Women In Business Initiative after attending the Fall Retreat, which was life changing for me. This retreat helped me to learn and appreciate my personality and abilities more through the personality assessments. Moreover, I was curious about the issues that women are facing in the business world nowadays and I wanted to be aware enough of the causes and how I can make a change for my community.
 
What do you hope to get out of your experiences with the Women in Business Initiative?
I want to take advantage of all the possible opportunities to grow as a confident and professional woman. Also, I want to help my fellow female students become aware of the issues and how they can deal with them.
 
Why are the Women in Business Initiative important in the Belk College of Business?
It is important for the female students as well as male students. It helps and prepares female students to face business world issues with confidence by utilizing the resources provided by this program. It is also important for male students to be aware of women’s issues in the business world and how to reduce obstacles for them in order to create a discrimination-free work environment by admiring their strength and importance in the workplace.
