Howard GodfreyHoward Godfrey, professor of accounting, is one of the recipients of the UNC Board of Governors (BOG) Awards for Teaching Excellence.

Established in 1994, the BOG Teaching Excellence Awards emphasize the importance of teaching and rewards good teaching across the UNC system. Recipients are nominated by special committees on their home campuses and selected by the Board of Governors Committee on Personnel and Tenure. Each recipient, representing all the UNC constituent institutions, will receive a commemorative bronze medallion and a cash prize.

Last fall, Dr. Godfrey received UNC Charlotte’s highest teaching honor, the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence.

A member of the Belk College of Business Department of Accounting for 36 years, Dr. Godfrey specializes in individual and corporate taxation. He believes his teaching success is based largely on relationships with students.  According to one graduate, "Dr. Godfrey is a professor who is clearly passionate about his subject and ensuring that his students understand what he is teaching. He provides numerous real life examples in his lectures and always makes time for his students outside of class."
