Alumni Advisory Council establishes Belk College Alumni Scholarship

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Members of the Belk College’s Alumni Advisory Council recently established a scholarship fund to benefit business students based on academic merit, demonstrated leadership, and financial need.

The Council, chaired by Jeff Stewart ’93, has spent the past few months defining goals and objectives for the upcoming year in four key areas: Alumni Engagement, Mentoring and Career Planning, Resources, and Community Involvement.

During the planning process, the group realized that an endowed scholarship was a powerful way for alumni to leave a lasting legacy and make an impact on the students of the Belk College.

“The Belk College Alumni Scholarship fund is a great opportunity for all alumni, not just those on the Council, to give back to the Belk College,” said Kristen Mills ‘98, vice chair of the Council. “Investing in the education of deserving students is more important than ever.”

In addition to Stewart, Council members include Frank Coleman ’77, Jessica Dill ’00 and ’02, Brian Duggan ’94, Charles Kistler ‘06, Jason Lackey ’97, Kristen Mills ’98, Al Minter ’05, Daniel Paula ’08, and Derrick Smith ’00.
