Dr. Benjamin Russo, associate professor of economics in the Belk College, will discuss the national debt on "Charlotte Talks" on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Dr. Russo, who joined the UNC Charlotte faculty in 1984, was the 2008 recipient of the Belk College's Distinguished Scholarship Award. Dr. Russo's specialization is the economics of taxation, and he is regarded as a national expert on the topic. In addition, he has established a second area of interest, financial economics, and has published articles on this topic in several elite journals. Dr. Russo has conducted significant research for the government sector, including the North Carolina tax commission, the Institute for Emerging Issues and the Canadian federal government.
