Jennifer Troyer, associate professor of economics in the Belk College of Business, will serve on a panel April 28 examining the role of women in community involvement and political activism.
The panel discussion is part of a larger program, "A Woman at the Table: A Better Feast for All," taking place from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the UNC Charlotte campus. The event is sponsored by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women's Summit, a volunteer organization committed to improving the lives of women and girls, and thereby the whole community, in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
Troyer's fellow panelists include Jenn Frey, associate director of Democracy North Carolina and Maxine Eaves, a community leader and advocate for women's empowerment. They will explore the impact of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, campaign finance reform, and how the community activism of one woman can impact the lives of many.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Victoria A. Budon, founding executive director of the Women and Public Policy program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
