UNC Charlotte, CCIM Institute partner for professional development

Thursday, June 21, 2012

The Center for Real Estate at UNC Charlotte has entered into an agreement with the CCIM Institute that will allow graduates of UNC Charlotte’s M.B.A. program with a concentration in real estate to receive credit towards the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation.

Individuals designated as CCIM are recognized experts in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate. CCIMs must be proficient in the areas of investment analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis and financial analysis for commercial real estate. Of the estimated 125,000 commercial real estate professionals in the United States, only 6 percent hold the CCIM designation.

Under the new agreement, any graduate of the UNC Charlotte program who pursues the CCIM designation will be given credit for three courses: CI 101 Financial Analysis, CI 102 Market Analysis, and CI 104 Investment Analysis.

Graduates must take the following steps to participate in and complete the CCIM University Fast Track Program:

  • Submit a CCIM University Fast Track Application and apply for candidacy
  • Successfully complete CI 103: User Decision Analysis
  • Fulfill the CCIM Institute’s portfolio requirements
  • Pass the comprehensive exam
