The UNC Charlotte Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) teamwon its fourth annual SIFE regional competition onMarch 22. Thecompetition was heldCharlotte and served as a preliminary competition for SIFE Nationals. The UNC Charlotte SIFE team will attend SIFE Nationals in Dallas, TexasMay 6 - 8and will compete against other teams from across the U.S.for the National SIFE Championship.
In addition, the UNC Charlotte SIFE team also won the Campbells and Sealed Air Business Ethics Award for the Ethics Bowl Challenge, a debate-style ethical case study competition for student organizations, held on the UNC Charlotteon February 3.
Competing SIFE team members were Erika Escalera, Kristen Fesnak, Amy Harkins, Hope Maitwe, Joseph Rinaldi, Trey Rhyne, Alex Stefanescu, and Wei Tsay. Kristine Hopkinsserves as the Sam Walton Fellow for the UNC Charlotte SIFE Team.
SIFE is a non-profit organization that exists in over 42 countries all over the world. SIFE members are dedicated to “Changing the World” by implementing projects that represent each of the five SIFE pillars: Market Economics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, and Business Ethics. The UNC Charlotte SIFE chapter was founded in 2003 and has distinguished itself in regional and national competitions. www.unccsife.org
