Cynthia Carlson, principal of Campbell\Carlson Executive Search and a UNC Charlotte graduate, has been appointed chair of the Belk College Board of Advisors.
Carlson has been a member of theboard for more than 10 years. As chair, she will preside overboard meetings and serve as a key advisor to Belk College Dean Mazzola on issues related to community programming, executive education curriculum and engagement with business leaders.

Campbell\Carlson isa retained executive search firm that specializes in recruiting senior-level executives for companies in a wide range of industries. Prior to establishing the firm,Carlson was vice president of talent management for Personnel Group of America, a $1 billion consulting and staffing company. Before that,she founded and subsequently built Carlson Compute into the largest privately owned technology-training business in the Carolinas. After a period of rapid growth, Carlson Compute was acquired by IKON. Carlson subsequently headed IKON’s national technology education strategic business unit.
Carlson wasawarded the Neel Award by the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and Deloitte & Touche for outstanding individual contribution to the region's technology community and has been honored by the Charlotte Business Journal in their annual"Women in Business" recognition program. She is an active community volunteer, focusing on higher education. In addition to her service on the board, she has beena member of the Board of Visitors of UNC Charlotte and the Ben Craig Center,the business incubator affiliated with the university.
